  1. Message for J.D. Chandler. Just finished your book Murder and Mayhem in Portland. Your chapter entitled “Enduring Mystery 1911” may be solved by reading The Man From the Train by Bill James and his daughter. The ax murders are the same, the settings close enough in my opinion. A map would tell you if the home was close enough to be within the m.o. of the killer described in James’ book. Just a thought. I don’t recall if James described any murders in Portland by his perp., I read his book too long ago to recall now.

  2. Rest in Peace JD. You were one of my closest friends and I will always love you. The contribution you made to Oregon history will live on decades after your passing. Fly high JD, I know you are with your father now.
